Tunnelcraft provides the full range of labour required for TBM operations, from mechanical and electrical teams carrying out TBM build and dismantling works through to TBM pilots, loco drivers and supporting tunnel and surface operatives. Our teams have experience across Earth Pressure Balance (EPB), slurry and variable density TBMs, operating on machines from 3 metres to 11 metres plus in diameter.
Tunnelcraft specialises in the safe delivery of primary and secondary lining in shafts and tunnels using the Sprayed Concrete Lining (SCL) methodology. We provide the complete labour resource, ensuring the use of the latest safe systems, plant and materials. Our skilled teams include EFNARC-qualified nozzlemen, SCL pump operators and specialist tunnelling excavator operators.
Our teams are proficient in complex techniques including Caisson and Underpinned methods, which ensure structural stability and water-tightness in deep or challenging ground conditions. We also specialise in rapid-turnaround solutions like Sprayed Concrete Lining (SCL) for immediate ground support and Sheet Pile Shafts for efficient, cost-effective excavation in soft or granular soils.
Tunnelcraft supplies complete gangs trained, competent and experienced teams for hand mining and timber heading works, particularly suited to smaller tunnels and sewer or service diversions.
We supply complete experienced teams from TBM Pilots to Mud technicians operating both open and closed-face MTBMs, delivering precise pipe installation in both soft and hard ground conditions.
Once the primary support is established, secondary linings are installed to provide long-term durability and a finished internal surface. For tunnels, we manage all specialist resources from the pit top through to the face gang. For Shaft Secondary Lining, we employ specialist formwork techniques such as Slipform (a continuous pouring process) or Jumpform (climbing sections) to create reinforced internal walls.
Recognising that all concrete has a finite shelf life, our specialist teams focus solely on the rehabilitation of existing structures. This includes identifying structural weaknesses, repairing spalling, and applying protective coatings to extend the operational life of ageing tunnel and shaft infrastructure.
