Through Tunnelskills, Tunnelcraft Ltd has been instrumental in helping to develop specific NVQs for the diverse and complex operations carried out in underground tunnelling environments. Recognising that generic construction qualifications often fall short of the unique demands found sub-surface, we have worked closely with industry bodies to ensure these vocational qualifications reflect the precise technical skills and safety rigour required on-site.

By formalising these standards, we ensure that our workforce is not only competent in their specific trades—such as machine operation or tunnel lining—but also deeply versed in the specialist safety protocols that are critical to high-risk underground projects.

Company-Wide NVQ Programme

We are currently undertaking a comprehensive NVQ programme as part of our commitment to maintaining a fully vocationally qualified workforce. This initiative aligns with the long-term objectives of Tunnelskills and the British Tunnelling Society, providing both new and existing staff with the relevant qualifications for their specific roles.
